NHAI is Offering Internship Opportunities to Students; Stipend Up to Rs.15000
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is providing final-year civil engineering students with the opportunity to intern with the National Highways Authority of India, or NHAI. The application period begins on July 15.
Students studying civil engineering now have the opportunity to get training from the National Highways Authority of India, or NHAI. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highway offers this internship program to final-year civil engineering students from NITs, IITs, and government and private engineering colleges.
From July 15, 2022, interested students can apply for the internship through AICTE's internship portal. NHAI will hire students for various projects, providing them with practical experience and a highly effective training program. Students will gain first-hand experience in the field of infrastructure development.
This will be a paid internship, with students pursuing BTech with a minimum of 7 CGPA will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000, and Masters’s students will receive Rs 15,000.
"The interns will work in different domains such as road designs, construction, and mechanical processing of roads," said MP Poonia, vice-chairman of AICTE.
This will assist students in learning teamwork in other departments such as Chemical, Electrical, and Mechanical.
Duration of the Internship
The internship will be for six months and would result in 18 credits. For one credit, they would need to complete 30 hours of practical training.
Internships in courses such as civil engineering are critical for students to understand the real-world possibilities of working in the field. AICTE has partnered with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to provide internship opportunities to 20,000 students.
M Rawani, director of the National Institute of Technology, NIT, highlighted a lack of employment prospects in the engineering sector and stated that such opportunities will provide students with better exposure and experience, which will help them find jobs along with a good education.
