“No Panchayat Would Lack Dairy or Fishery Cooperative Society in Next 5 Years”: Amit Shah
Union Home Affairs Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that the Centre has made provisions and allocated adequate funds in the recently released Union Budget 2023-24 for the registration of over 2 lakh multi-dimensional Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).
"To encourage cooperation, Prime Minister Modi has included several schemes in the Union Budget. The previous tax of 26%, which was levied on production collaboration, has now been reduced to 15%. We have also established a Ministry of Cooperation to investigate which panchayats lack milk and fisheries society," Shah explained.
"After the formation of the Ministry of Cooperation, we set up a data bank for Cooperatives across the country to identify which Panchayats do not have PACs, dairy, or a Fishery cooperative society," Amit Shah said at a function after laying the foundation stone of an Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) nano urea plant in Jharkhand's Deoghar." As a result, after five years, no panchayat will be without a PACS," he added.
He stated that land reform has been one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's top priorities since taking office, and that such measures would help India become self-sufficient. He also advised farmers to use natural manures instead of chemical fertilisers, which degrade soil fertility.
"From today's programme, I only want to tell the farmers that excessive use of chemical urea will do nothing but damage your crops as well as the soil. However, IFFCO guarantees an increase in crop productivity if natural urea is used," Shah said.
"The Nano urea has been created with the research intended to protect Mother Earth as when the chemical fertilisers seep into the earth, it kills earthworm which is known to make natural manure. "You can protect your soil from intoxication by using organic manure," Shah added.
Amit Shah began his visit to the state by praying with his wife at the Baba Baidyanath temple. Amit Shah is making his second visit in less than a month.
Amit Shah visited Ranchi, the state capital of Jharkhand, on January 6, and held a core group meeting and a public rally in Chaibasa on January 7. The Minister's visit to Jharkhand is critical in light of the 2024 parliamentary and assembly elections.
