Now You Can Buy Unique and Authentic Hand-made ‘Bamboo Products’ on Snapdeal

Online shoppers can now buy hand-made bamboo products on Snapdeal as India's e-commerce company has launched these products jointly with Mukhyam Mantri Laghu Kutir Udyog Vikas Board (MMLKUB), an initiative of the Department of Industries & Jharkhand government. A wide range of home & kitchen accessories along with furniture made by Jharkhand’s Kalindi and Sabars tribes, besides daily use items such as racks, baskets and stands will be available online for people, as per the company statement.

Online shoppers can now buy hand-made bamboo products on Snapdeal as India's e-commerce company has launched these products jointly with Mukhyam Mantri Laghu Kutir Udyog Vikas Board (MMLKUB), an initiative of the Department of Industries & Jharkhand government. A wide range of home & kitchen accessories along with furniture made by Jharkhand’s Kalindi and Sabars tribes, besides daily use items such as racks, baskets and stands will be available online for people, as per the company statement.

Snapdeal, with this joint venture aims to make the indigenous bamboo industry mainstream outside the state of Jharkhand. A company spokesperson told “Jharkhand has high-quality bamboo in abundance and the tribes of this area are also skilled to make aesthetically attractive and functional items for the Indian households. We are pleased to bring these fun yet eco-friendly bamboo items on our platform.”

IAS, Secretary, Industry, Jharkhand Government, K. Ravi Kumar said, “Snapdeal's close connect with consumers from all over India, including in smaller cities, is a great opportunity to take the indigenous bamboo craft of Jharkhand deeper in the country. Also, the training provided by the Company to officials of the Department of Industries, Government of Jharkhand will help drive greater impact for this joint initiative."

The company's catalogue will also display bamboo cutlery as well as kitchen range like forks, straws, spoons, bowls, mugs, tray, bottle cover, boxes, glasses and coasters in order to reduce plastic use. In addition, home decoration items such as lamps, showpieces, vases, mats, sofa sets, tables, chairs and beds made of traditional hardwood are also part of the collection.

Artisans have also made unique fashion accessories like earrings, bangles, necklaces, hair clips and bags that portray the distinctive culture of the region. Palm leaves, Kanshi grass and beads made in eco-friendly material are also used while making the products.

The Company has organized a “train-the-trainers” programme that will help MMLKUB officials in training artisans to sign up & list their products on Snapdeal platform through a 4-step sign-up process that only requires bank details, phone, email & a GST number.
