Odisha Triple Train Tragedy leaves Over 261 Dead, Several Injured; Ministry Releases Helpline Numbers

Three trains in Odisha’s Balasore district derailed and collided leaving many injured and killing at least 261.

Odisha Triple Train tragedy has left more than 261 people deal and hundreds injured. The spine-chilling images show three trains derailed on Friday, June 2, including Yashwantour-Howrah Express, Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, and a goods train in Balasore District of the state.

While the rescue team is still running its operations. Cranes and Bulldozers are being used for the rescue operations.

The Odisha government has issued helpline number for the people who wants to check about their closed-one. The helpline number is 06782-262286. While the railway helpline numbers are 033-26382217 (Howrah), 8972073925 (Kharagpur), 8249591559 (Balasore) and 044- 25330952 (Chennai).

Numbers to connect with the control office are 044-25330952, 044-25330953, and 044-25354771.

The mishappening has left the state in a shock so much so that the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced one-day state mourning. Influential people on social media are sharing their condolences including, cricketer Virat Kohli, Member of Parliament, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other.
