Agriculture Education Day is celebrated on 3rd December every year which is the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna- Dr. Rajendra Prasad who was the first president of Independent India and Union Minister of Food and Agriculture of India in 1946.

He was one of the famous leaders of the Indian Nationalist Movement and was one of the chief architects in shaping the Republic of India.

Realizing the importance of this day, Krishi Jagran organized a Webinar on the Importance of Agriculture Education for All on 3rd December 2021, from 3 pm onwards.

The webinar was moderated by MC Dominic, The Founder & Editor in Chief of Krishi Jagran & Agriculture World and various dignitaries from the Education fraternity as well as the Industry, addressed the webinar.

One among them was Prashant Belgamwar of Advanta Seeds. He has over 30 years of experience and is currently the Business Director of South Asia at Advanta Seeds.

He started his address by recalling the days when he was still a student in one of the Agriculture University. He has a masters' degree in agronomy from Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth. He is also an IIM Ahmedabad Passout.

He highlighted that the amount of knowledge that one can gain by interacting with farmers cannot be matched by the education provided in any university or college.

He later also talked about the various issues that the farmer is facing, the major one being that the farmer purchases everything in 'retail' & sells everything in 'wholesale', and in this process he becomes 'the sufferer'. He also pointed out that Agriculture Universities must include Artificial Intelligence & Machine learning in their curriculum.

Prashant Belgamwar also bagged the “Business Leader of the Year 2021” award in a prestigious ceremony held Taj Lands Ends, Mumbai. The award was given during the 29th World HRD Congress, which was scheduled from February 15 to 17, 2021.
