Opportunity! Scheme for SHGs and B-Plan Competition launched in MH

Suresh Prabhu, the Union Commerce Minister launched a scheme, ‘Hirkani Maharashtrachi’ today with an objective to provide a platform for women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and a ‘District Business Plan Competition’ to foster entrepreneurship at district level in the State of Maharashtra.

Suresh Prabhu, the Union Commerce Minister launched a scheme, ‘Hirkani Maharashtrachi’ today with an objective to provide a platform for women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and a ‘District Business Plan Competition’ to foster entrepreneurship at district level in the State of Maharashtra.

The minister announced this while addressing Collectors of 36 districts through video conferencing. Several Minister of States, MPs, MLAs and Zilla Parishad Presidents also attended the conference.

Introducing the Scheme, Hirkani Maharshtrachi, he explained that SHGs shall pitch their ideas at taluka level.

Altogether 10 groups will be selected from each taluka and Rs 50,000 will be given to each SHG to implement their idea.

Also, five SHGs at district level shall be selected and Rs 2 lakh will be given to each of them to take their idea forward.

Prabhu emphasized on the importance of women’s participation for the successful implementation of the scheme.

 

In the District B-Plan Competition-

Competitors at district level will pitch ideas and 5 ideas shall be selected from the field of agriculture, social service, education and miscellaneous categories. Work order worth Rs. 5 lakh will be given to the selected ideas by the government.

The schemes will be driven by the Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS), under the state departments of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship with execution support from the respective districts.

The minister assured support from the Centre for the programme. The scheme shall be completely funded by the Centre and the winners of the B Plan Competition will get a chance to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.
