Over 3500 Scientist and Technical Cadre Posts Vacant in ICAR: Tomar

A total of 3,705 posts are vacant in Scientific and technical cadre in the Indian Council of Agriculture Research, Narendra Singh Tomar has said in Lok sabha.

A total of 3,705 posts are vacant in Scientific and Technical cadre in the Indian Council of Agriculture Research, Narendra Singh Tomar has said in Lok sabha.

While answering to the questions asked in Lok sabha on the number of vacancies in ICAR, Tomar said, Out of the total Sanctioned strength of 6586 positions in scientific cadre in the Agri Institution, 1394 are vacant. Similarly out of the total authorized strength of 6756 in technical cadre 2311 are vacant.

According to the data shared by Agriculture Minister, 74 vacancies are in research management positions, 380 Positions are vacant for principal scientist post, a position which heads or coordinates a research project.  Scientist and Senior Scientist roles have a total of 569 and 371 vacancies respectively. Among the Technical staff, the highest number of vacancies is in category 1 post. The category 1 has the highest number of sanctioned posts i.e. 3699, out of which 1187 are vacant.

The total number of vacancies in category 2 and 3 of technical posts are 866 and 258 respectively.

Recently, ASRB issued a notification for the recruitment for the post of Administrative Officer and Finance & Accounts Officers (pay level 10 of 7th CPC pay matrix) through a competitive exam at various ICAR research Institutes in accordance with the rules issued by ICAR.  The last date for the receipt of Applications is 23rd August, 2021, 5.00 pm. Tomar also said that the recruitment of these posts is a continuous process and vacancies are filled up by established procedure through ASRB, subject to availability of qualified candidates.
