Parshotam Rupala Visits Mini Aquarium Centre Under PMMSY at Tanmarg, Jammu & Kashmir

On the second day of his visit, he went to the Mini Aquarium Centre at Tanmarg with the goal of operationalizing the Aquarium Cum Awareness Centre and interacting with the fish farming community.

Moving forward, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Parshottam Rupala distributed fishing equipment to beneficiaries of PMMSY-sponsored CARP and TROUT units.

He spoke about the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojna (PMMSY) scheme and other multidimensional blue revolution activities, with a particular emphasis on increasing fisheries production and productivity (for both inland, marine, and cold-water fisheries) and its associated activities, such as infrastructure development, marketing, exports, and institutional arrangements, among others.

PMMSY is a government of India initiative to establish a comprehensive framework and close infrastructure gaps in the fisheries sector

Parshottam Rupala educated fish farmers about cold water fisheries in India, stating that the Government of India established the National Research Centre on Cold Water Fisheries in Uttarakhand in September 1987 to promote cold water fisheries.

He shed light on topics such as increased income, significant contribution to the state's economy, the importance of cold water fishes in their unique biodiversity, valuable germplasm, and the preservation of environmental quality in hills.

For human consumption, farmed fish provides high-quality protein

This interactive session assisted him in comprehending the issues at hand and assuring the beneficiaries, fish farmers, and fishermen that the issues will be addressed in order to improve fisheries development in the Himalayan and cold water fisheries regions.

Beneficiaries of the PMMSY and KCC, as well as fish farmers and fishermen, met with Union Minister Parshottam Rupala.
