PM KISAN 16th Installment Released: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 16th installment amounting to more than Rs 21,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), during a historic public ceremony in Yavatmal on February 28, 2024. This sum, delivered through direct benefits transfer to beneficiaries, marks a significant milestone as it brings the total funds disbursed to more than 3 lakh crore, benefitting over 11 crore farming families across the nation.
Apart from this, Prime Minister inaugurated and dedicated several key development projects worth more than Rs 4900 crores to the nation. These projects, encompassing rail, road, and irrigation, aim to bolster infrastructure in Yavatmal and empower the local populace. The Prime Minister also utilized the occasion to release benefits under PM KISAN and other welfare schemes, further solidifying the government's commitment to holistic development.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi initiated the distribution of 1 crore Ayushman cards across Maharashtra, a move aimed at enhancing healthcare access. Additionally, he launched the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana specifically designed for OBC category beneficiaries, demonstrating a keen focus on inclusive development.
PM KISAN 16th Installment: Seamless Disbursement of Rs 21,000 crores
Expressing concern over past leakages in financial assistance, the Prime Minister emphasized the stark contrast evident in the seamless disbursement of Rs 21,000 crores under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. The direct transfer of funds to farmers, tribals, and those in need stands as a testament to the government's commitment to eradicating financial irregularities. PM Modi said, "The poor are getting their deserved share today."
Highlighting the impact on Maharashtra, the Prime Minister revealed that farmers in the state have received a staggering Rs 30,000 crore under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Yavatmal's farmers alone received Rs 900 crore in their accounts. Furthermore, PM Modi announced the increase in the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane to Rs 340 per quintal, aiming to enhance the income of sugarcane farmers.
PM Modi acknowledged the recent launch of the world's largest scheme for constructing food storage at the Bharat Mandapam, underscoring the government's commitment to securing the nation's food supply. Emphasizing the imperative to strengthen the rural economy, the Prime Minister affirmed the government's resolve to address challenges faced by families in villages by providing comprehensive financial support.
