PM KISAN Scheme: BJP’s Manifesto Promises to Give Rs 10,000 to J&K Farmers
BJP government has announced in its manifesto to increase the financial assistance under the PM Kisan Yojana for Jammu and Kashmir farmers from Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 annually.
The Indian government continues to prioritize farmers' welfare through various schemes, one of the most significant being the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) Yojana. Under this initiative, eligible farmer families receive financial support of Rs 6,000 annually, distributed in three equal installments of Rs 2,000. However, a recent announcement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah indicates a potential increase in the amount, specifically for the farmers in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
On September 06, 2024, Amit Shah announced that farmers in J&K would soon receive an additional Rs 4,000 under the PM Kisan Yojana, taking the total amount to Rs 10,000 annually. This promise aligns with the BJP's manifesto for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections. The funds will be distributed in three installments: Rs 3,000, Rs 3,000, and Rs 4,000. The total budget for the scheme, which was previously Rs 60,000 crore, will rise to Rs 1 lakh crore for the financial year 2025.
The PM Kisan Yojana, launched in 2019, aims to increase the income of small and marginal farmers by providing direct financial aid. The scheme has gained significant attention, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently releasing the 17th installment of Rs 20,000 crore in June 2024. The 16th installment was distributed in February 2024, and farmers are eagerly awaiting the 18th.
To register for the scheme, farmers need to visit the official website (pmkisan.gov.in) and follow the registration process, which includes providing Aadhaar information, bank details, and land records. Once the registration is complete, eligible farmers will receive their payments directly into their bank accounts.
This initiative reflects the government's commitment to supporting farmers, especially in regions like Jammu and Kashmir, where agricultural support is crucial for economic stability.
