PM Modi Dedicates AIIMS Nagpur to Nation, Inaugurates Metro Phase I Project
Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated AIIMS Nagpur institute to the country on Sunday.
During the inauguration ceremony, PM Modi witnessed the Milestone Exhibition Gallery that was on display for the event and was also shown the Nagpur AIIMS project model by the concerned officials.
The hospital, whose foundational stone was also laid by PM Modi in July 2017, has been established under the central sector scheme Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. A statement released by the government said that Prime Minister's commitment to strengthening health infrastructure across the country will be strengthened through the dedication of AIIMS Nagpur to the nation.
The medical institute with cutting-edge amenities, OPD, IPD, diagnostic services, operating rooms, and 38 departments covering all main specialist and super speciality disciplines of medical science has been built at a massive cost of more than Rs 1575 crore. The hospital will benefit the nearby tribal communities of Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Melghat while providing advance medical resources to Maharashtra's Vidarbha region.
Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, state Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari were in attendance during the inauguration event.
Including the newly inaugurated AIIMS institute, PM further laid the foundation stone and dedicated various projects to the state of Maharashtra worth Rs 75,000 crore on Sunday. The list of these projects consists of National Institute of One Health (NIO), Nagpur and Nag river pollution abatement project, and national rail projects worth Rs 1500 crore.
The Prime Minister officially flagged off the Vande Bharat Express from Nagpur to Bilaspur earlier in the day. He also laid the cornerstone for the second phase of the Nagpur Metro. The Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, which connects Nagpur and Shirdi over 520 kilometers, also had its first phase opened by PM Modi.
While addressing the event, PM Modi wished everyone a happy Sankashti Chaturthi and hailed Lord Ganpati. He emphasised how the lives of people would be changed by this extremely memorable day, when a variety of development projects were being inaugurated in Nagpur.
"Today a constellation of eleven new stars is rising for the development of Maharashtra which will help in achieving new heights and provide a new direction. Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samridhi Mahamarg is now ready from Nagpur to Shirdi, AIIMS will benefit the people of Vidarbha, the establishment of National Institute of One Health, ICMR's research Centre built in Chandrapur, the establishment of CIPT Chandrapur, Various Projects in Nagpur to reduce the pollution of Nag river, the inauguration of Metro Phase I and laying the foundation stone of Phase II, Vande Bharat Express between Nagpur to Bilaspur, the project of redevelopment of 'Nagpur' and 'Ajni' Railway Station, the inauguration of maintenance depot of 42 thousand horsepower rail engine at Ajni and inauguration of Kohli-Narkhed route of Nagpur-Itarsi line", he said while listing all the 11 newly inagurated projects.
He further cited examples of once-poor nations like South Korea and Singapore that managed to turn their course through a boom in infrastructure and are today major economic hubs. He emphasised that it is vital that every rupee from the government exchequer be used to create a promising future for the next generation.
