PM Modi, First Indian to Receive Seoul Peace Prize

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, 22 February received the Seoul Peace Prize in the South Korean capital from its government in recognition of his service to international cooperation, global growth and human development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, 22 February received the Seoul Peace Prize in the South Korean capital from its government in recognition of his service to international cooperation, global growth and human development.   

PM Modi was conferred with the Seoul Peace Prize during his two-day visit to South Korea.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived on a two-day visit to South Korea to strengthen India's strategic ties with the country. He had earlier addressed a gathering in the capital city of Seoul. 

On 21 February, he unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at Yonsei University. 

Interestingly, PM Modi is the 14th recipient of the prestigious peace award and is the first Indian to receive it.  

However, the award was first announced by the Seoul Peace Prize Cultural Foundation, last year in October.
