PM Modi Inaugurates Projects Worth Over Rs 34,000 crore; Highlights Fair Pricing and Settlement of Dues in Sugarcane Sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a recent address in Azamgarh, highlighted the government's substantial efforts in supporting sugarcane farmers, resulting in the recovery of crores of rupees in pending dues over the past few years. PM Modi announced that the government has disbursed Rs. 2000 crore to 7 lakh farmers in Azamgarh, underscoring the administration's commitment to the agricultural sector. This move is part of the ongoing efforts to alleviate financial burdens on farmers.

Increase in Remunerative Price of Sugarcane

The Prime Minister also disclosed a positive development for sugarcane farmers by revealing an 8% increase in the remunerative price of sugarcane for the current year. The price has been raised from Rs 315 to Rs 340 per quintal, providing a more equitable return for the labor and investment of the farmers.

Emphasizing the government's dedication to resolving longstanding issues, PM Modi stated, "Our government has settled pending dues worth thousands of crores for sugarcane farmers, providing them timely and fair payments." This commitment aims to address the historical challenges faced by farmers in the region.

Focus on Fair Prices for Farmers' Produce

Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the government's focus on ensuring fair prices for farmers' produce. He talked about the substantial increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various crops, including sugarcane, stating, "Today, MSP for sugarcane farmers has been increased by 8 percent, reaching Rs. 340 per quintal."

PM Modi elaborated on the transformative initiatives in biogas and ethanol, showcasing the government's commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and the diversification of income sources for farmers. He also mentioned the significant benefits brought about by the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, informing that in Azamgarh itself 8 lakh farmers received 2,000 crore rupees under the scheme.

Infrastructure Projects Worth Rs 38,000 Crore

In the same speech, Prime Minister Modi announced the inauguration of infrastructure projects worth Rs 38,000 crore in Azamgarh. These projects are envisioned to contribute to the overall development of the region and provide economic opportunities.

The Prime Minister concluded his address by spotlighting Uttar Pradesh's rising profile, fueled by record levels of investment, ground-breaking ceremonies, and the expansion of expressway networks and highways. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 15 airport projects across the country, including 12 new terminal buildings for airports in Pune, Kolhapur, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Delhi, Lucknow, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Moradabad, Shravasti, and Adampur, collectively worth more than Rs 9800 crore.
