PM Modi Inaugurates 'Vanijya Bhawan' & Launches NIRYAT Portal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 June 2022 inaugurated 'Vanijya Bhawan' and launched the NIRYAT portal. Among those in attendance were Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Som Prakash, and Anupriya Patel. In his address to the gathering, Modi stated that another significant step has been taken today in the direction of the journey of Citizen-Centric Governance in New India, which the country has been on for the past eight years.

According to him, the country has received the gift of a new and modern commercial building, as well as an export portal, one physical and other digital infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also noted that today is the anniversary of the death of the country's first Industries Minister, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. "His policies, decisions, resolve, and implementation were critical in providing direction to independent India." "Today, the country pays a humble tribute to him," he said.

Referring to the Ministry's new infrastructure, the Prime Minister stated that it is also time to renew the pledge of ease of doing business and, by extension, 'ease of living.' He claims that the link between the two is ease of access. He stated that there should be no barriers to communicating with the government, and that making the government easily accessible is a top priority for the government. This vision is clearly reflected in the policies of the government, he added.

Referring to numerous recent examples, the Prime Minister stated that in the New India's new work culture, completion date is part of the SoP and is strictly adhered to. He stated that only when the government's projects do not linger for years and are completed on time, and when the government's schemes achieve their objectives, is the taxpayer of the country respected. In the form of the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, we now have a modern platform as well. He stated that the Vanijya Bhawan will give the nation's 'Gati Shakti' a boost.

The Prime Minister cited the new Vanjiya Bhawan as a symbol of his Government's commercial achievements during this time period. He remembered emphasizing the need for innovation and improvement in the Global Innovation Index when the foundation stone was laid. India is currently ranked 46th in the Global Innovation Index and is steadily improving.

He also mentioned improving the ease of doing business at the time; today, over 32000 unnecessary compliances have been removed. Similarly, while GST was new at the time of the building's foundation stone laying, 1 lakh crore GST collection per month is now commonplace.

In terms of GeM, orders worth 9 thousand crore rupees were discussed back then; today, more than 45 lakh small entrepreneurs are registered on the portal, with orders worth more than 2.25 lakh crore placed. The Prime Minister had mentioned 120 Mobile units at the time, up from just two in 2014; today, this figure has surpassed 200. There are now 2300 registered Fin-tech startups in India, up from 500 four years ago. At the time of the Vanijya Bhawan's foundation stone laying, India recognized 8000 startups per year; today, this number exceeds 15000, according to the Prime Minister.

"Exports from new markets are growing. Exports have increased dramatically in many aspirational districts. The increase in exports of cotton and handloom products by 55 per cent shows how the work is being done at the grassroot level”, he pointed out.
