Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India

On July 14 (Thursday), Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate virtually in the first I2U2 Leaders' Summit, alongside leaders from Israel, the UAE, and the United States. The goal of I2U2 is to encourage collaborative investments in six mutually identified areas, including water, energy, transportation, space, health, and food security.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in an I2U2 Summit, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and US President Joseph R Biden," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

The I2U2 Grouping was conceived during a meeting of the four countries' Foreign Ministers on October 18, last year.

"Each country also has regular Sherpa-level interactions to discuss potential areas of cooperation," the MEA said.

In addition to the I2U2 Summit, Biden will attend an in-person summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) + 3 in Jeddah, which will bring together leaders from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, as well as Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt.

A senior US administration official said ahead of the I2U2 Summit that President Biden plans to discuss "the food security crisis and other areas of cooperation across hemispheres where UAE and Israel serve as important innovation hubs."
