Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, December 17, 2023, asked one of the beneficiaries of Lakhpati Didi scheme, Chanda Devi, to contest elections as her speech was so good.

PM Modi attended the two-day event, Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where beneficiaries shared their experiences on the theme of 'Meri Kahani Meri Zubani'.

A resident of Rampur, Chanda Devi, refused to contest elections but said that she would want to work under the guidance of PM Modi.

Impressed with her speech, PM Modi inquired about her education. "Sir, I am interpassed," replied Chanda Devi. Further, PM Modi asked, "Do you want to contest elections?" to which she replied, "no, I am inspired by you and I want to learn from you."

"It is a huge honour that I can speak here in front of you," she said.

Moreover, he asked whether her children are availing proper education or not. To which she answered, "If my financial condition allows me, then I will be able to support their higher education better."

The Prime Minister said that VBSY aims to record the experience of the beneficiaries while including those who have been left behind so far. “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is an examination for me”, the Prime Minister said, adding that he wants to hear from the people if the desired results have been achieved.

“Impact of implementation of government schemes on the ground unlocks a new dimension of happiness in the government employees, and it is being made possible by Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra”, the Prime Minister said.
