PMJDY Big Update! Rs 36,659 Crore transferred to 16.01 Crore Beneficiaries; Check Your Jan-Dhan Account Balance through This Number

The Ministry of Finance has recently made a big announcement for Jan Dhan Yojana applicants. He said that more than Rs 36,659 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of 16.01 crore beneficiaries from March 17 & April 17 during the lockdown.

The Ministry of Finance has recently made a big announcement for Jan Dhan Yojana applicants. He said that more than Rs 36,659 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of 16.01 crore beneficiaries from March 17 & April 17 during the lockdown.

The Finance Ministry in a statement said, "More than Rs 36,659 crore were transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) by using Public Financial Management System (PFMS) in the bank accounts of 16.01 crore beneficiaries amid COVID-19 lockdown (i.e. from March 24, 2020 - April 17, 2020)."

The ministry added, "Payments were also made under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana in which Rs 500 was credited in women account holders' Jan Dhan accounts. The total number of women beneficiaries till April 13 was 19.86 crore, which resulted in the disbursement of Rs 9,930 crore.”

The Finance Ministry also said that PFMS usage for DBT payments has increased in the last 3 fiscal years. Now, the total DBT amount disbursed has been increased from 22% in FY 2018-19 to 45% in FY 2019-20.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched the *99# service for the banking customers in India. This new service can be used for mobile banking by anyone who has a bank account with any bank.

But, the basic minimum requirement is that the individual must have a mobile phone, smart phone or even a basic phone. Plus, the mobile must be GSM enabled. However, users of CDMA handsets cannot use this facility.
