PMUY Ujjwala 2.0: Know the Application Process & Other Details
On 10th August (Tuesday), Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme under ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana- PMUY 2021 in Mahoba, district of Uttar Pradesh. The PM Ujjwala Yojana 2021 program aims to end the daily challenges of rural areas by providing free gas connection to women of below poverty line households.
On 10th August (Tuesday), Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme under ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana- PMUY 2021 in Mahoba, district of Uttar Pradesh. The PM Ujjwala Yojana 2021 program aims to end the daily challenges of rural areas by providing free gas connection to women of below poverty line households.
The PMUY Ujjwala scheme links women from such a households to LPG cylinder companies, by offering them free connection. As part of the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme, PM Modi additionally announced a free-of-cost refill & an interest-free loan to purchase a stove.
Additionally, PM Modi also announced, that the migrant workers can get the LPG connections through self-declaration as ‘proof of address’ in Ujjwala 2.0 scheme.
How to Apply for Ujjwala 2.0 scheme

The PMUY Ujjwala 2.0 scheme can be availed through the local LPG gas agencies, which are belonging to the state-run OMCs such as – Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL)

The beneficiaries can also apply online on PMUY portal via: https://www.pmuy.gov.in/

After visiting the official website, fill in the application form with details such as Jandhan Bank Account, Address & Aadhaar number of all the members.

Upload all the required documents.

After processing the application, connection will be issued by the Oil Marketing Companies to the eligible beneficiaries.

In case one opts for the EMI, then EMI amount will be adjusted against the subsidy amount due to consumer on each refill.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath handed over the documents to women at the launch event in Mahoba on behalf of the Prime Minister. During Ujjwala 1.0 launch in 2016, a target was set to provide the LPG connections to 5 crore women members of BPL households, which was later revised to 8 crore, along with 7 more categories such as SC & ST communities and the forest dwellers.
During Union Budget of the year 2021-22, a provision for an additional 1 crore LPG connection under the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme was announced.
