Police to use 40000 Radio-Frequency Tags to Trace Lost Children at Kumbh Mela 2019

Uttar Pradesh Police will use radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags to trace children lost at the massive Kumbh Mela. The world’s largest religious gathering started today at Prayagraj and will continue till 4th March 2019.

Uttar Pradesh Police will use radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags to trace children lost at the massive Kumbh Mela. The world’s largest religious gathering started today at Prayagraj and will continue till 4th March 2019.

RFID is a type of wireless communication that includes the use of electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio-frequency part of the electromagnetic spectrum to uniquely recognize an object or a person.

OP Singh, Director General of Police (DGP) informed PTI that 40,000 RFID tags will be used to locate lost children in the Kumbh Mela 2019. The tags are being arranged in association with the Vodafone.

He also said around 15 digital lost-and-found centres have been formed in the Kumbh region - integrated with the district police and social media.

He added that an arrangement has also been made with a public address system, for display of information through LEDs.

To manage the traffic, UP police will use an integrated system along with an intra-district route diversion, besides crowd analytics and an intelligent traffic management system (ITMS), Singh told media.

He also told that variable message display boards have been constructed for real-time information propagation, warnings, traffic advice, route guidance and emergency messages.
