Post Office Franchise Available at Just Rs 5000; 8th Passed Can Also Apply

If you are 18 years old and searching for a job by which you can earn a good income by investing just rupees 5000, then you can apply for Post Office Franchise Scheme. There are more than 1.55 lakh post offices across the country including 89 percent in the rural area but the demand for the post office is constantly increasing among the growing population.

However, there are still some places in India where there is not a single post office. Postal Department of India has introduced a franchise service which can be an additional source of income for anyone. Even you can apply for this franchise and take benefit of this scheme.

Keeping this requirement in mind, the Post Office gives the franchisees of 'Indian Post Office' to the customers. Any person above the age of 18 years can apply and start the Post Office Franchise in their state or city. Even eighth passed person can start this service, and this has been decided by the Postal department

For getting a post office franchise, you have to deposit a security amount of Rupees 5000, after which the post office gives you commission according to your work. Apart from this, you have to sign a Memorandum of Agreement by filling the form. After getting this franchise you will be able to issue stamp, speed post articles, money order, stationery, etc.

Types of Post Office Franchise

India Post offers two types of franchisees through a franchise scheme;

  • Counter services through Franchise Outlets in areas where there is a demand for postal services, but a post office cannot be opened.

  • Sale of postal stamps and stationery through Postal Agents in urban and rural areas.

Through franchise outlets, you will have to provide post office facilities in those parts of the country where there are no post offices. Secondly, through postal agents, you have to deliver postal stamps and stationery from door to door in urban and rural areas.

How to Become a Franchisee?

Candidates for franchises would need to apply in a prescribed format. The selected franchisee will sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department, paying charges and other things will be mentioned on it.  Criteria for selection have been fixed considering the necessity to select persons with the capacity to manage and market a variety of products, alongside a way of the community needs and public aspects of the work, and willingness to simply accept technological options.

Age Limit

  • Above 18 years. No upper age limit.

Educational Qualification

  • 8th class passed from a recognized school.

Preference is given to below Listed People

  • Postal pensioners

  • One who can provide computer facilities

Commission Offered

On becoming a franchise partner of the postal department applicant will start getting commission from the department on sale of services and products sold at the outlet. Commission offered by the department will be;

  • Per Registered Post Article Booked: Rs 3

  • For per Speed Post: Rs 5

  • For 100 to 200 Rupees Money Order: Rs 3.50

  • For More than Rs 200 Money order: Rs 5

  • For Postage Stamp, Postal Stationery, Money Order form: 5 percent commission
