Punjab Agri Minister Holds Review Meeting to Discuss New Agriculture Policy
On March 23, Punjab Agricultural Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal convened a high-level review meeting at Punjab Bhawan to discuss the state's new agriculture policy. He examined all facets of the new agriculture strategy with a team of top officials and agricultural specialists.
The meeting was attended by eminent agronomists Dr. Gurdev Singh Khush and Dr. BS Gill. Dr. Khush is a rice variety development expert, while Dr. Gill has substantial wheat variety development knowledge; both scientists are internationally famous.
Dhaliwal told reporters that the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is working hard on a new agriculture strategy to make agriculture viable. He claimed that no administration has concentrated on the welfare of farmers since independence, particularly on making agriculture a profitable career.
He stated that on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh and his companions, they swore an oath to leave no stone unturned in constructing the Punjab of Bhagat Singh's aspirations. He reaffirmed his commitment to renaming the state "Rangla Punjab." According to the Agricultural Minister, such a system would be developed so that young people do not migrate to other nations. On this occasion, he also urged citizens to submit comments for the new agricultural strategy by March 31.
He stated that any Punjab inhabitant can send their comments to 75080-18998 on WhatsApp, 0172-2969340 over the phone, or farmercomm@punjabmail.gov.in through email. In addition, suggestions can be made in writing to the Punjab State Farmers Commission, Airport Road, Mohali.
He stated that the Punjab government supports farmers and that it is their obligation to develop excellent, robust, and useful policies for the state's agricultural. Dhaliwal believed that by the end of June this year, the people of Punjab would have a new agriculture strategy. He stated that the new agricultural strategy is being developed with the geographical situation of Punjab, soil health, crop availability, and water in mind. People's suggestions would also be taken into account, he added.
Dhaliwal voiced concern that the past governments' careless attitude and misguided policies had resulted in Punjab's pure water, clean air and environment, and healthy fertile land becoming polluted water, poisonous air, and non-fertile land. He stated that this phenomenon will be changed in the future with a clear policy and goal.
He stated that agriculture is more than simply a business; it is a life concern. The agriculture minister emphasized the importance of eradicating agricultural insecurity and stated that the state government will go forward with everyone's help to save agriculture. Bearing Punjab's crops, water, land, and environment in mind, he stated that the state government is making every effort to make agriculture a profitable sector by incorporating excellent advice from agricultural experts, agronomists, and others.
