‘Rain Alert’ in North India, Pune Lashes with heavy rain; Temperatures Drops in Delhi-NCR
The weather department of India has predicted heavy rainfall over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and the northern region during the next 2-3 days. On the other hand, the temperature over Delhi-NCR dropped after light showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rains over the next few days over the national capital.

“A Western Disturbance is currently affecting the Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of northwest India. The weather associated with it is very likely to continue over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the next 2-3 days. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorm activity likely over the western Himalayan region during the next 24 hours”, said IMD in its morning bulletin.
Pune lashed by incessant rainfall Friday, with fire brigades getting calls of heavy flooding and waterlogging in several areas. Light to moderate rains and thunder is likely in the area over the next two to three days, as per the prediction of the Met department. Most places over Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Maharashtra; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, Konkan &Goa, South Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep witnessed heavy rainfall yesterday.
East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Punjab, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana and Karnataka observed rainfall along with thunderstorm, as per yesterday’s report.
Maximum temperatures were recorded above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Coastal Karnataka while minimum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat region; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir.
Moreover, the weather department predicts, “Dry weather is likely over parts of northwest India from 07th October.”
Heavy rainfall may create disruption in the festive mood of Navratri, Durga Puja in some parts of the country.
On the other hand, the death toll in rain-related has risen to 117 in UP till Thursday.
