Retired Customs Officer from Bahadurgarh gives Two-acre Land to Protesting Farmers for Cultivation

A retired customs officer who lives in Balor village on the tikri Bahadurgarh border has given two acres of his agricultural land to a group of agitating farmers from Amritsar to grow vegetables. 

Nar Singh Rao said, ‘These farmers are campaigning for the last four months near my fields. Earlier I have provided them facilities like bathing, toilets, etc., besides offering them food and milk on several occasions. A few days back, they requested that I give them the land on rent to grow vegetables to meet the shortage. But I gave them land for free of cost on humanity grounds as they fight for the entire farming community”. 

Rao, who has four acres of agricultural land, said that the farmers could use the land till their agitation ended. 

“We are preparing for a big hump. As we don’t have any other work except taking part in the protest, we decided to grow the vegetables such as bottle gourd, pumpkin, etc., to meet the steady demand of farmers who have joined the protest with us. The residents of Haryana village have extended every possible help for the last four months, but the vegetable supply has gone down for the last couple of days”, said Shamsher Singh of Amritsar. 

He said that they had plowed the fields and asked relatives to bring vegetable seeds from home. The vegetables would be ready to use in 45 days. After that, he will consume vegetables at the tikri border with all farmers at Tikri, he added.
