Samuel Praveen Kumar Emphasizes AIF's Role in Enhancing Agri Infrastructure and Reducing Post-Harvest Losses

On 14th October 2024, the Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, organized a workshop on the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) at Angh House, Agri Expo, Chumoukedima, Nagaland. Limanenla, Joint Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Nagaland, delivered the inaugural address, welcoming dignitaries and participants. She expressed optimism about the workshop’s potential to drive significant growth in Nagaland's agricultural sector.

Samuel Praveen Kumar, Joint Secretary (AIF, Extension, I&MPS) at the Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare (DA&FW), delivered the keynote address. He emphasized the role of AIF in creating agricultural infrastructure that reduces post-harvest losses and increases farmers’ income.

He pointed out that the fund supports sustainable practices while addressing critical challenges in the sector. The AIF also encourages convergence with other government schemes, benefiting farmers, agripreneurs, startups, and farmer producer organizations (FPOs), transforming the agricultural infrastructure landscape across the country.

Wezope Kenye, Agriculture Production Commissioner of Nagaland, highlighted the vital role of AIF in strengthening agricultural infrastructure within the state. He expressed optimism that the fund would enhance agricultural production and positively impact Nagaland’s agriculture sector.

The workshop is seen as a significant step toward promoting the growth and development of agriculture in Nagaland, focusing on infrastructure improvement, higher yields, and profitability for the farming community.

Out of Rs 1 lakh crore allocated to the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Rs 230 crore is assigned to Nagaland to boost to the state's agricultural infrastructure.
