IDFC Bank signs MoU with NMIMS for student scholarships

IDFC FIRST Bank has announced scholarships for NMIMS' School of Mathematics, Applied Statistics & Analytics first-year students (SOMASA). Find all details about this wonderful opportunity in this article.

The scholarship will pay the first-year fees of their respective programs. The scholarship holders will also have the option to intern at the bank for a stipend, with the possibility of receiving a pre-placement job offer to work with the bank's Data Science and Analytics team based on their performance during the internship. The internship will last two months, with the possibility of a four-month extension.

"We are committed to growing and supporting talent in data science and analytics, a vibrant and high-demand profession," said B Madhivanan, chief operating officer of IDFC FIRST Bank.

The scholarship announcement at NMIMS is only the beginning. We intend to expand this effort in the future to allow more students to break new ground in their academic and professional endeavors."

"The scholarship plan is one of the fantastic efforts that will benefit students continuing their study in data analytics at NMIMS," said Ramesh Bhat, vice-chancellor of SVKM's NMIMS. The collaboration with IDFC comes at an ideal time, as it will assist us in preparing students for project work, internships, and final placements. Our school and departments were recently restructured, resulting in the formation of the School of Mathematics, Applied Statistics, and Analytics. Sushil Kulkarni, who recently joined the faculty, will oversee the new school.

The selection of the students for the IDFC First Bank Meritorious Student Scholarship will be based on their first-semester examination results, followed by personal interviews. Equal weightage must be given to academic excellence and bank’s internal evaluation in the selection process.
