Scientist Entrepreneur Meet held on Camel Milk Processing

The National Research Centre on Camel, Bikaner in association with Animal Husbandry Department of Rajasthan organized a “Scientist Entrepreneur Meet on Camel Milk Processing and its trade” at its campus.

The National Research Centre on Camel, Bikaner in association with Animal Husbandry Department of Rajasthan organized a “Scientist Entrepreneur Meet on Camel Milk Processing and its trade” at its campus. 

Around 65 camel farmers, NGOs, entrepreneurs involved in dairy business, organic food production and officials of Animal Husbandry Department attended the meeting. 

Dr. R.K. Sawal, Director (Acting), National Research Centre briefed about the spreading of camel milk on a large scale around the country due to the advantages of medicinal properties. He also opined for the steps that can be taken for promoting and maximizing the use of camel milk in the city Jaisalmer. Dr. Sawal also opined for promoting the products made from camel leather and bones in order to attract more tourists to the city.  

Dr. P.C. Sharma, Joint Director and Dr. Umesh, Deputy Director from Animal Husbandry Department, Jaisalmer emphasized on organizing such events from time to time for supporting the camel owners for their livelihood. 

The camel owners, entrepreneurs and representatives of self-help organizations also shared their experiences and difficulties arising in promoting camel milk for human health benefits and trade during the event. 

Ahead of the summers, the event also marked the serving of “Camel milk Ice-cream” in order to encourage the entrepreneurship.
