The demand for sanitizer has increased amidst reports of preventive measures against COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and many fake materials being sold in the market. Considering this, the scientists of CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur (Himachal Pradesh) have developed a new hand-sanitizer for people.

Director of IHBT, Dr. Sanjay Kumar said, “The natural flavors, active tea constituents & alcohol content in the hand-sanitizer have been used according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization. One of the special things is that chemicals such as triclosan, parabens, synthetic fragrance & phthalates have not been used in this product. ”

IHBT has transferred the technology to Palampur based company M/s A.B. Scientific Solutions for the commercial production of this hand-sanitizer. It has also signed an agreement with the company for this.

The company that has a strong countrywide marketing network of its own will set up a facility in Palampur for commercial production of this hand-sanitizer. In addition, it will market these hand-sanitizers & other disinfectants in all important cities across the country.

Dr. Kumar added that because of the sudden increase in demand for sanitizer in the Indian market, its arbitrary prices are being charged.
