SECI Partners with H2Global to Drive Green Hydrogen Initiatives
SECI and H2Global Stiftung have partnered to promote green hydrogen, focusing on joint tender frameworks and global market strategies to position India as a key exporter in the hydrogen economy.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI), which operates under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with H2Global Stiftung. This partnership aims to promote the global adoption of green hydrogen by facilitating knowledge exchange and developing market-based mechanisms. Signed on November 19, 2024, the MoU represents a significant step forward in enhancing India's role in the global green hydrogen ecosystem.
The agreement was formalized by Sanjay Sharma, Director (Solar) at SECI, and Dr. Susana Moreira, Executive Director of H2Global Stiftung. The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Timo Bollerhey, CEO of HintCo, Markus Exenberger, Executive Director of the H2Global Foundation, and senior Indian officials such as MNRE Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh and NGHM Mission Director Abhay Bhakare.
This collaboration aims to leverage H2Global’s expertise in international hydrogen markets to support India’s ambitions of becoming a leading green hydrogen exporter. Joint tender designs and structured procurement strategies will form the backbone of this cooperation, enabling India to align with global trade practices and market demands. By understanding trade logistics and engaging with key stakeholders, India stands to gain insights critical to enhancing its hydrogen production and export capabilities.
Green hydrogen is set to play a pivotal role in global decarbonization efforts, and this partnership reflects India’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in renewable energy.
