Dr. Mohapatra exhorted the centre to play a prominent role in seed sector at global level in imparting technical know-how of seed production and strengthening the competency skills through capacity building programmes. Besides, he emphasized to chalk out an action plan to conserve the local landraces to cater the needs of local seed demand. He further urged the seed scientists to come forward and help in preparing seed rolling plans for southern states.
At the onset, Dr. Dinesh K Agarwal, Director (Acting), ICAR-IISS, Mau outlined the programme and activities of the regional station.
Dr. S. Rajendra Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru and Dr. D. K. Yadava, ADG (Seed) present at the occasion deliberated on issues of breeder and quality seed production in the country and future prospects.
