Shakti Pumps Transforms 'Aanadata' into 'Urja data' with PM-KUSUM Component-C

Shakti Pumps, an Indian solar pumping company, received Rs 149.71 Cr order from Ajmer Viduyt Vitran Nigam Limited under PM-KUSUM Component-C on October 9, 2023, showcasing India's commitment to solar energy and sustainable agriculture.

The project involves replacing inefficient electric pump sets with energy-efficient BLDC Solar Pump sets, powered by solar energy. Surplus electricity can be sent back to the grid. This initiative will greatly benefit Indian farmers by improving irrigation, reducing reliance on traditional energy, and enabling income through surplus power sales to Discoms. Dinesh Patidar, Chairman of Shakti Pumps, supports this initiative, highlighting how it transforms farmers into energy providers.

A pump set's 10 lakh rupee cost can be recovered by Discoms in 5 years, saving up to 2 lakh rupees annually. Farmers can earn up to 50,000 rupees per year and accumulate 2.5 lakh rupees in 5 years by selling excess power. This empowers farmers, enhances irrigation, and ensures energy security. (Savings based on an internal study for 10 HP pump sets).

The scheme benefits Discoms by purchasing electricity from farmers at 3 rupees per unit and selling it at 6 rupees per unit, promoting energy efficiency and reducing tariff subsidies. Local installation and connection to Discoms' networks reduce Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses and enhance the grid. This aids Discoms in meeting their Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) and aligns with India's goal of achieving 40% non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, reducing the carbon footprint.

The grid-connected solar pumping system can operate pumps and export surplus energy to the grid, increasing farmers' income, reducing pollution, and modernizing agriculture. It advances micro-irrigation, improving crop yields, quality, and prices. This initiative signifies progress for farmers and the nation, promoting sustainability. Shakti Pumps is proud to be a part of this transformative project, contributing to India's sustainable future.
