A groundbreaking seminar titled Sustainable Aquaculture: India’s Potential to be the Global Leader is set to take place on September 25, 2023, in New Delhi. Parshottam Rupala, the Ministry of Fisheries, who has been invited as the chief guest, will be launching SISTA360- A first-of-its-kind digital platform for aquaculture solutions. NK Premachandran, Member of Parliament, and the guest of honour at the event will deliver the keynote address.

India’s aquaculture sector has witnessed a remarkable transformation over the past decade, driven by visionary leadership and a steadfast commitment to sustainability. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a second ‘Blue Revolution’ in 2014 initiated a wave of policy reforms and prioritized the sector’s growth. Notable initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and the Coastal Aquaculture Authority (Amendment) Bill 2023 represent significant milestones in this journey.

Shaji Baby John, Chairman and Managing Director of Kings Infra, shares his perspective, “This seminar marks a historic moment for India’s aquaculture industry. We stand on the brink of an unprecedented era of growth and sustainability. Kings Infra is committed to supporting India’s journey to becoming a global leader in aquaculture through innovation and collaboration.”

The seminar will provide a platform for renowned experts, academics, technologists, investors, and farmers to converge, both in person and online. Farmer clusters from various states will also participate, showcasing the inclusivity and diversity of India’s aquaculture community.

The highlight of the event will be the national launch of SISTA360, a groundbreaking digital platform designed to provide traceable, transparent, sustainable, and profitable aquaculture solutions. SISTA360 simplifies input procurement, encourages sustainable production, facilitates profitable marketing, and offers valuable guidance on government schemes and program linkages. SISTA360 is incubated by Kings Infra along with co-founders having decades of experience in Aquaculture technologies, Finance and Information technology.

The development of seaweed farming and value-added products will also be a key focus of the seminar. These innovations not only hold promise for India’s coastal and marine ecosystems but also for the country’s agricultural sector.

The fusion of industry and academia has led to the emergence of new domestic breeds, species diversification, and environmentally responsible practices such as nutrient recycling. Kings infro will be entering into MOUs with premium research institutions and universities to develop and scale indigenous technologies and breeds to make Indian products more competitive and valuable in the global markets

With just 5-10% of India’s aquatic resources currently utilized, the country stands on the verge of achieving sustainable ten-fold growth, making a trillion-dollar blue economy an achievable reality. The seminar aims to harness collective action among stakeholders, with the goal of making India the global hub of aquaculture by 2030. This endeavor aligns perfectly with the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

This seminar promises to be a pivotal moment in India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in sustainable aquaculture. It’s an opportunity to deliberate on the sector’s opportunities and challenges and pave the way for a brighter future.
