Sonali Phogat died of a heart attack in Goa on Monday

BJP leader and Tiktok star, Sonali Phogat died of a heart attack in Goa on Monday (22 August). Her brother Watan Dhaka has confirmed the news of her death. Born on September 21, 1979, in Haryana, Sonali belonged to a Jaat family and her father is a farmer. 

She was an actress, politician, and content creator. She also entered in Big Boss 14 as a wildcard contestant.

Sonali has worked in Daily soap, made her debut in a TV Serial 'Ek Maa Jo Lakhon Ke Bani Amma' in 2016, and later appeared in a Haryanvi film 'Chhoriyan Chhoron see Kam Nahi Hoti'. Back in 2019, she was also a part of the web series 'The Story of Badmashgarh' and performed various roles in Punjabi and Haryanvi music videos.

Sonali Phogat’s Political Journey

Sonali started her political career in 2008, she joined Bhartiya Janta Party, and then became the National Vice President of BJP Mahila Morcha.

Later in 2019, she contested in the 2019 Haryana Assembly Elections from the Adampur Constituency, however, she was defeated by the Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi by a margin of 29, 471 votes.

Initially, Sonali Phogat had worked for the BJP in the tribal areas of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh and was later made in charge of the BJP’s scheduled Tribe Wing in Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh.

Being part of several controversies Sonali always remained in news. She was arrested for slapping a government official in Hissar.

Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal condoled the death of Sonali Phogat. He tweeted, “Received the very sad news of the sudden demise of BJP leader Sonali Phogat. May God rest the departed soul at her feet and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this immense loss. Om Shanti!”
