State-Level Workshop on Energy Use Efficiency in Agriculture & Allied Sectors Enlightens Assam Farmers
The workshop highlighted the crucial role of sustainable energy adoption in agriculture, featuring insights from experts and interactive sessions with local farmers to promote climate-resilient farming practices.
To bolster sustainable agricultural practices, a state-level workshop titled ‘Energy Use Efficiency in Agriculture & Allied Sectors’ was recently convened in Darrang, Assam.
The event, jointly organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang, and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone VI, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Assam State Designated Agency, aimed at promoting the concept of "Per Unit - More Drop, More Crop" with Near to Zero Emissions for Climate Resilient Agriculture.
Distinguished guests and experts graced the occasion, underscoring the significance of sustainable energy adoption in the agri-allied sector. Shri. Navin Kumar Roy, General Manager of NABARD, serving as the Chief Guest, accentuated the pivotal role of solar energy in fostering sustainability. He deliberated on various methods for integrating sustainable energy practices at the grassroots level, empowering farmers to implement them effectively.
Shri. Gurujyoti Das, Chairman of AFDC and former MLA of Mangaldoi, serving as the Guest of Honor, elucidated the transformative potential of modern agricultural technologies in North East India, particularly in rural Assam. He shed light on how these technologies can revolutionize conventional agricultural methods, ushering in an era of enhanced productivity and efficiency.
Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director of ICAR-ATARI Zone VI, emphasized the imperative of raising awareness among farmers about renewable energy, with a special emphasis on drip irrigation techniques. He underscored the indispensable role of renewable energy in fortifying climate-resilient agriculture, stressing the need for concerted efforts in this direction.
The workshop comprised a series of technical sessions and interactive discussions, providing an invaluable platform for farmers from Darrang and neighboring districts to engage with experts, deliberate on challenges, and explore sustainable solutions.
With a concerted focus on promoting energy efficiency and sustainability in agriculture, the workshop underscored the collective resolve of stakeholders to foster a resilient and prosperous agricultural landscape in Assam.
