Talent Search for Manning Agri-Tree

The National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata celebrated its 81st Foundation Day with full enthusiasm and fervor.

The National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata celebrated its 81st Foundation Day with full enthusiasm and fervor.    

The Chief Guest, Dr. C.D. Mayee, President, South Asia Biotech Centre & Ex-Chairman, Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board (ASRB) delivered Foundation Day Lecture on the topic “Talent Search for Manning Agri-Tree”. Applauding the commendable work being done by the institute in the field of Natural Fibre Engineering & Technology, he urged the institute authorities and staff members to reorient its technology building programmes based on current requirements and stimulate innovations, provide know-how for developed technology and networking, etc. 

 

Giving the references of value addition to fibre wealth of India viz. Jute, Okra, Pineapple, Banana, Ramie, Coconut’s tremendous potential in India to increase employment in the rural areas, reduce post-harvest losses and increase income of the farmers and agri-entrepreneurs for doubling farmers’ income by 2022. 

The Guest of Honor, Dr. S.N. Jha, Assistant Director General (Process Engineering), ICAR accentuated the achievements of NINFET to deal with Natural Fibre Engineering & Technology with special emphasis on diversified product from different natural fibres. He also applauded the institute’s work during the last 80 years. He also urged the specialists to be in tune with the modern and latest changes taking place in engineering of natural fibre. 

 

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Alok Nath Roy, Director (Acting), ICAR-NINFET underlined a brief synopsis of institute’s historical progress from JTRL to NIRJAFT culminating to its present rename as NINFET. 

 

During the occasion, an in-house Rajbhasha Magazine “Devanjali” for the year 2019 was also released by the dignitaries along with conferring awards to the Wards of employees for their excellence in matriculation and +2 exams. 

 

A segment of mesmerizing colorful cultural programmes and quiz competition kept the participants engaging towards the venue.
