Debt-ridden agricultural workers and farmers to reach out to Telangana Farmers Debt Relief Commission

Nagurla Venkateshwarlu, Chairman, Telangana Farmers Debt Relief Commission has reached out to debt-ridden agricultural workers and farmers who are facing huge loss to approach the commission for assistance if required.

Venkateshwarlu was appointed by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on 14th July, 2018, according to a press release on the Telangana government’s website.

"Agricultural labourers, rural artisans, and small farmers with land under 5 acres who have taken loans from private mediums and banks for agriculture and could not pay them back due to losses are requested not to be disheartened and kindly reach out to the commission," said Venkateshwarlu in a press release on Wednesday.

Venkateshwarlu drew attention to the several agricultural-related welfare initiatives that the state government, which is governed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, had implemented, and he urged people to take advantage of them.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi was formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi or TRS. The party has been in the news recently as its office was inaugurated on December 14, 2022, by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, along with his daughter and MLC K.

Venkateshwarlu stated that K Chandrashekhar Rao, the chief minister, had executed a number of programmes for the benefit of Telangana farmers, including Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, and a 24-hour electricity supply.

Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima are both welfare programs aimed at supporting farmers in India. Both the schemes are developed by the National Informatics Centre (TS), Hyderabad, under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.

While Rythu Bandhu focuses on providing financial support for farmers' investments, Rythu Bima provides life insurance coverage to farmers. Both schemes are part of the government's efforts to improve the welfare of farmers in India. It is worth noting that under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, farmers have received a total of Rs. 65,191 crore in financial support.
