Krishi Jagran organized a live session for cotton growers to help them increase cotton cultivation.

Cotton is an important crop in India and the second largest cotton-producing country in the world. However, China still holds its position in the first place. Cotton is the most revived cash crop of India, providing primary fiber for fabrics that has a prominent place in the country's industrial and agricultural economy. Cotton is also known as white gold due to the ever-increasing consumption and variety of uses in the world.

Farmers can make more profit by sowing cotton in the month of May and keeping this in mind, Krishi Jagran organized a Facebook live session to discuss nutrition management in cotton cultivation.

At the webinar, ICL's Sr. Agronomist Dr. Shailendra Singh, and ICL's Chief Agronomist Sanjay Naithani, were present as keynote speakers.

In the webinar, ICL's Sr. Agronomist Dr. Shailendra Singh emphasized on crop nutrition management and talked about how manure should be managed for the cotton field in the whole of India at this time so that farmers can get a good yield from cotton cultivation. Apart from this, he also informed that three types of cotton are cultivated in India:

Long Staple Cotton – 50% of long-staple cotton is produced in India alone. The length of its fibre is 24 to 27 mm and it’s high-quality cotton.

Medium Staple Cotton- 44 to 45 percent of this cotton is also produced in India. Its silk length ranges from 20 to 24 mm.

Short Staple Cotton- This cotton is produced in very small quantities in India. If we talk about the length of its silk, then it is up to 20 mm.

Further, he added that there is a great need for us to increase our cotton production. He discussed in detail about many new techniques and measures to increase the production of cotton.

He also added that the pH value of all the cotton-growing areas has increased. These problems can be avoided by using ICL fertilizers for normal and low pH in the fields. Apart from this, he also said that the cotton growers should use phosphorus fertilizers to get higher yields from cotton cultivation.

Soil fixation of phosphorus:

After this, emphasizing the stabilization of phosphorus in the soil, ICL's Chief Agronomist Sanjay Naithani said that if farmers apply DAP or any phosphorus in their field at the time of sowing and the pH value of their land is high, then your phosphorus intake in two-third part goes directly into the ground, which the crop does not receive.

Apart from this, he also mentioned that when the first flower of the crop comes, at that time the demand for phosphorus increases very fast in the crop. To avoid this situation, farmers should use ICL fertilizers for crops so that even after 60 days a good crop yield can be obtained.
