Tripura CM Inaugurates Agri Superintendent Office in Jolaibari

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated the Superintendent of Agriculture office in Jolaibari, South Tripura district, on Saturday, for the welfare of farmers of the state.

The Superintendent of Agriculture office seeks to strengthen the agriculture sector, which is the primary occupation of the people of Jolaibari. "The Tripura government is completely focused on Health, Education, and Agriculture; this is a new addition to the Agriculture sector," an official statement said.

 

"The Superintendent's office will facilitate and accelerate official work. Furthermore, this office will be vital in supporting and extending government schemes as well as other important matters such as financial aid, agricultural tools, and so on," the official statement added.

Rice is Tripura's main crop, accounting for 91% of the cropped area. The state has various medicinal plants, including 266 medicinal plants, 379 tree species, 581 herbs, 320 shrubs, and 165 climbers.

Mandwi is administered by the West Tripura district. The new rice godown will allow farmers to use it to store, preserve, and sell crops as needed.

This new godown will assist nearby farmers in storing their produce and gaining access to better market prices A large portion of the Tripura population relies on agriculture for a living, with paddy being the most common crop.

 

Manik Saha inaugurated another 1,000-tonne capacity rice godown and a Farmers Knowledge Center at Ganda Twisa in the Dhalai district on November 16.
