The Aadhar card needs to be secured against fraud with the utmost care

Every Indian citizen needs an Aadhar card, which is an important document. Any government service, including banking, telecom, and scheme/subsidy requires an Aadhar card. The need for Aadhar card verification and authentication increases in such circumstances. This service is offered both online and offline by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India).

There are several issues that arise with the widespread use of Aadhar cards. Hence the Aadhar card needs to be secured against fraud with the utmost care in this situation. Here are some methods to protect your Aadhar card against fraud.

On September 23, UIDAI released a circular detailing measures to take in order to prevent Aadhar card fraud. Additionally, it has provided information as to what an Aadhaar user should and should not do.

How to prevent Aadhar Card Fraud

  • Any Aadhaar is verifiable online/offline. To verify offline, scan the QR code on e-Aadhaar or Aadhaar letter or Aadhaar PVC card.

  • Always keep your mobile number updated in Aadhaar. If you have any doubt about whether your correct mobile number or email has been linked with Aadhaar, you can verify the same using this link: myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verify-email-m

  • Keep your biometric locked in case the Aadhar card is not used, you can unlock it later to use it.

  • For any information related to Aadhaar, contact 1947 or mail at help@uidai.gov.in.

What you should not do with your Aadhar Card

  • Do not leave your Aadhar card, PVC card, or an unattended copy thereof.

  • Do not share your Aadhaar publicly on social media ('Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and other public platforms with strangers.

  • Do not disclose your Aadhaar OTP to any unauthorized entity.

  • Do not share your m-Aadhaar with anyone.
