UP Government to Plant 25 crore Saplings during Van Mahotsav Week

Yogi Adityanath government is all set to make a new world record by planting 25 crore trees in a massive plantation drive called “Van Mahotsav”.  

CM Yogi Adityanath launched the Mission Plantation 2020, a massive plantation program organized under the Van Mahotsav. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath planted Harishankari plant in the capital's Kukarel forest area. 

The target of planting 25 crore saplings by evening in UP was also met. 25 crore three lakh nine thousand nine hundred 81 saplings have been planted across the state till 6 pm. Geotagging is also being done along with tree plantation across the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that I am happy that we have achieved our goal of planting 25 crore saplings in a day. We have planted 25 crores 75 lakh plants in the state. 

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on June 5, that a target has been set to plant 25 crore saplings in the first week of July. Yogi gave the message of conservation of nature to the people by planting bel plant at his residence on the occasion of Environment Day. He said that 30 crore saplings will be planted this season. A target has been set to plant 25 crore saplings in the first week of July. He said that saplings will be planted according to the adaptability of the agro-climatic zone (bearing fruit, shade and timber). 

The Chief Minister said, "On World Environment Day gives us the message of coordination with nature. This is in the interest of all humanity. From this day all of us should take inspiration to plant more and more saplings. "He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the Prime Minister's package to overcome the Coronavirus crisis. There are many provisions in this package to bring prosperity in the lives of people. The Chief Minister said, "An action plan is ready on how we can advance organic farming in Uttar Pradesh." 

Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting festival in India, celebrated in the first week of July. This movement was initiated in the year 1950 by India's then 'Union Minister for Agriculture', Kulapati Dr K M Munshi. This festival aims to create awareness regarding the importance and preservation of the forest. People celebrate Van Mahotsava by planting trees or saplings in homes, offices, schools, colleges, and thus, called as afforestation.
