In an effort to promote health and wellness among its citizens, the Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh is set to organize a week-long Yoga event from June 15 to 21. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Har Ghar Aangan Yoga' (Yoga in every home). The event coincides with the 9th International Yoga Day, which is celebrated worldwide on June 21.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already issued directives to ensure the successful implementation of Yoga Week. The aim is to bring Yoga to every household in the state by conducting mass Yoga sessions and other related events across all districts. To facilitate this, a detailed action plan has been formulated, and district-level committees have been established in each district to monitor and assist in executing the plan effectively.

The district-level committees will be chaired by the respective district magistrates and comprise various key officials, including the Chief Development Officer, Municipal Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer, Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officers, District Homeopathic Officer, District Education Inspector, Basic Education Officer, Sports Officer, and representatives from non-governmental organizations. This diverse group of members will work together to coordinate and ensure the smooth organization of group Yoga sessions and other programs throughout the state.

A total of 23 departments will collaborate in organizing these events, ranging from district headquarters and tehsils to gram panchayats, blocks, gram vikas, medical education, medical health and family welfare, AYUSH, transport, and police departments. Their collective efforts will help create a comprehensive and widespread celebration of Yoga in Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to government initiatives, select non-governmental organizations will also play a vital role in promoting Yoga activities in the districts. These organizations, including the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Yoga Institute, Ramakrishna Mission Seva Ashram, Patanjali Yoga Institute, Gayatri Parivar, Brahma Kumari Foundation, Art of Living, UP Naturopathy, Yoga Teachers and Physicians Association, Surya International Foundation, and Heartfulness, will contribute trained Yoga instructors to conduct group Yoga programs at the district, block, and village panchayat levels.

The Yoga Week will extend beyond the community level, with various events planned in technical institutions, agricultural universities, higher education institutions, medical institutions, and AYUSH universities across the state. The government is currently developing a comprehensive program for these institutions and has allocated funds to support the implementation of these events.
