Uttar Pradesh has taken a significant step towards becoming a leading state in milk development and production with the launch of the Nand Baba Milk Mission scheme. The state government has allocated a substantial budget of Rs 1,000 crore to support the implementation of this ambitious scheme.

The primary objective of the Nand Baba Milk Mission is to ensure that milk producers have access to a fair market price for their products in rural areas, achieved through the establishment of dairy cooperative societies.

Dharampal Singh, the Cabinet Minister of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, expressed the department's commitment to the economic growth of rural areas in the state. The scheme aims to provide farmers with remunerative prices for their milk and strengthen the agro-based infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.

One of the key strategies of the Nand Baba Milk Mission is the formation of Dairy Farmer Producer Organizations (Dairy FPOs). These organizations will facilitate the sale of milk within the producers' own villages. In the initial phase, five Dairy FPOs will be established as a pilot projects in different districts of the state during the financial year 2023-24. Notably, the participation of women will be encouraged, as they are expected to play a major role in these organizations.

In addition to the launch of the Nand Baba Milk Mission, the state government has also inaugurated the Nand Baba Milk Mission office at Kisan Gomtinagar. This office will serve as a hub for coordinating and implementing various activities under the scheme. Furthermore, a dedicated "Dairy Development Portal" has been unveiled to facilitate communication and provide essential information to stakeholders. The portal is expected to streamline processes and ensure transparency in the milk production and distribution chain.

To foster a sense of identity and unity among stakeholders, the Nand Baba Milk Mission now has an official logo that symbolizes the mission's vision and objectives. The logo aims to create brand recognition and awareness and to inspire confidence among milk producers and consumers alike.

The launch of the Nand Baba Milk Mission marks a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh's efforts to transform its dairy industry and empower local milk producers. With the provision of fair prices and improved infrastructure, this initiative is expected to boost milk production, enhance the rural economy, and uplift the livelihoods of farmers across the state.

The government's focus on gender inclusivity by encouraging women's participation in Dairy FPOs also highlights its commitment to promoting equity and empowering all sections of society.
