Uttarakhand CM Suggests Officers to Take Up Apple, Kiwi Production on Mission Mode
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated on December 23 that apple and kiwi production should be undertaken in the state on a mission basis and continuously monitored.
CM Dhami stated during a review of the Cooperative Department at the Secretariat that in addition to promoting their products, special attention should be paid to branding, packaging, and marketing.
He said that nodal officers should be appointed for each PAX to strengthen the PAX, with a special focus on strengthening Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) in the state.
Dhami believes that by promoting a natural farming cluster approach, efforts should be made to connect cooperatives with natural farming.
According to the Chief Minister, these local products must be promoted to the fullest extent possible by encouraging millet production in the state. Training and seminars for people associated with the cooperative should be organized regularly.
The Chief Minister stated that the flagship schemes of the federal and state governments should be widely publicised so that more people can benefit from them.
As a best practise, he stated that action should be taken soon for the Cooperative Department's plan to benefit self-help groups formed through the Student Credit Scheme and PACS.
Dhami believes that by connecting more people to the Deendayal Upadhyaya Cooperative Farmers Welfare Scheme, it will be very effective in empowering women and increasing farmers' income.
Self-help groups are eligible for interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh under this scheme. This scheme provides an interest-free loan of up to Rs 1 lakh for agricultural work and Rs 3 lakh for non-agricultural work. The Chief Minister stated that the work to promote the CM Solar Self-Employment Scheme should be accelerated.
