The Government of Gujarat has postponed the tenth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat global investor summit on Thursday, which was scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on Jan 10.

The spokesperson Jitu Vaghani of the Gujarat government revealed to the media during the International Conference of Academic Institutions, a pre-Vibrant Gujarat Summit at Science City in Ahmedabad, that given the current Covid situation, Patel has decided to postpone the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. The move, according to Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi, is a preventive measure for the greater benefit of citizens.

The decision came after Gujarat confirmed 3,350 additional Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, comprising 50 Omicron cases.

According to a state home department official, about 10% of the individuals have been admitted to hospitals, with the majority displaying just mild symptoms. While the administration was preparing for the summit, five IAS officers, even those in charge of organizing it, were infected with Covid-19.

Chief Minister reported in a government release on Thursday that various global investors, dignitaries of state, high-level delegations, and corporations from throughout the nation have expressed interest and registered to attend the summit. The CM thanked the partnering nations and participants for their involvement in the summit and hoped that they would continue to do so in the future.

The summit has attracted more than 17,000 individuals and 7,000 businesses, and the Gujarat government has conducted roadshows in other countries to promote it. Meanwhile, the state government has decided to cancel the kite festival and flower exhibition hosted on the Sabarmati Riverfront on the evening of each VGGIS edition.
