Vice President to Attend 61st Convocation of ICAR-IARI on Feb 24

On February 24, 2023, the IARI will host its 61st convocation at ICAR-IARI in New Delhi. Jagdeep Dhankhar, Vice President of India, will be the chief guest at the main Convocation event.

The ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, India's model of excellence in agricultural research and education, has led the National Agricultural Research System in agricultural research, education, and extension.

 

Guests of Honor will include Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, and Ministers of State, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Kailash Chaudhary and Shobha Karandlaje. Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary of DARE and Director General of ICAR, Dr. A.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor and Director of ICAR-IARI, and Dr. Anupama Singh, Dean and Joint Director (Education) of ICAR-IARI will also be present.

The ICAR-unique IARI's five-day convocation programme will begin on February 20th with merit medal presentations by M.Sc. and Ph.D. students from 26 disciplines across six Schools. Convocation Week will also include presentations by professors from each discipline, lectures by IARI awardees, and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Lecture.

 

More than 400 students (including M.Sc., M.Tech., and Ph.D.) will receive their degrees on Convocation Day, including students from Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. The Chief Guest will also award the NABARD-Professor VL Chopra Gold Medal and Best Student of the Year recognition to the selected M.Sc. and Ph.D. students on this occasion.

The event will be graced by dignitaries such as the ICAR's current and former Directors General, Deputy Directors General, and Assistant Directors General, as well as former Directors and Deans of the Institute, Project Directors (WTC), Division Heads, and Professors. The event will be broadcast in virtual mode on the Institute's YouTube channel.

 

IARI is India's largest and most prestigious Institute for agricultural research, higher education, and training. It has distinguished itself in serving the cause of science and society through first-rate research, the development of relevant technologies, and human resource development.
