Weather Alert: Extremely Heavy Rainfall Likely in These States till 15 June: IMD

As per the latest IMD outlook, the northern limit of monsoon has passed over southern Gujarat, southern Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh and Northeast plains about five days earlier.

As per the latest IMD outlook, the northern limit of monsoon has passed over southern Gujarat, southern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Northeast plains about 5 days earlier.

Moreover, it is likely to advance into the remaining parts of Gujarat, the rest of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar during the next few days.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is at the northwest of Bay of Bengal and is likely to become a low-pressure area in the next 24 hours. The system is likely to move west-northwestward heading to Odisha.

Under the impacts of the low pressure, most of East India and adjoining central India are likely to see fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated to scattered heavy to very heavy fall from Friday, June 11.

Maharashtra, Kerala, and Karnataka would see heavy to very heavy rainfall during June 11-June 15. Isolated extremely heavy falls also very likely over Konkan and Goa during 11-15 June with higher intensity of rainfall on June 13 and 14 Heat-wave condition is predicted over much of Rajasthan and Semi-arid regions for the rest of this week. The conditions will be limited only to west Rajasthan and part of Gujarat from the early next week onwards.

Regional Forecast:

In the next 5 -6 days, heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Telangana.

Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Kerala.

Widespread rains with local thundershowers have been forecast over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Jharkhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Interior Karnataka.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are forecast over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Isolated rain with lightning is possible over Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. The maximum temperatures are likely to remain above 40°C in some places of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi.
