Weather Alert! Extremely Heavy Rainfall Likely Over Coastal Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka Today

According to weather department, a broad cyclonic circulation spinning on the border of Central and Eastern India will maintain its position during the next 5 days bringing rain and thunderstorms. Moist air from the Bay of Bengal will continue to be fed into Northeastern India resulting in unstable weather conditions widely over the region.

According to weather department, a broad cyclonic circulation spinning on the border of Central and Eastern India will maintain its position during the next 5 days bringing rain and thunderstorms. 

Moist air from the Bay of Bengal will continue to be fed into Northeastern India resulting in unstable weather conditions widely over the region. 

Konkan coast will likely receive incessant rainfalls due to Southwest monsoon. For those regions, some rainfalls are predicted to be extremely heavy. Total accumulations for the next 5 days will possibly reach 300 mm in localised areas. Daily downpours may result in flooding. 

Southwest monsoon has further advanced to cover more parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The Northern Limit of Monsoon passes through Gujarat, northwestern Madhya Pradesh, and western Uttar Pradesh. 

Maximum temperatures over 40°C are expected in Rajasthan and the adjoining regions. Western Rajasthan will see over 45°C. In addition, gusty winds causing dust storms are possible in western Rajasthan. 

On 17th June 2020 - Heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms with some extremely heavy falls are forecast over coastal Maharashtra, Goa, and coastal Karnataka. Widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms with some very heavy falls are likely over the entire Northeastern India, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. 

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are on the cards for Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Sikkim, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. 

Isolated rain/snow and thunderstorms are possible in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Maximum temperature of 40°C or more is predicted in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. 

18th June 2020 - Heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms are predicted over coastal Maharashtra, Goa, and coastal Karnataka. Widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms with some very heavy falls are also forecast over the entire Northeastern India, Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan region, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. 

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
