Weather Alert! Heavy Rain to Lash over These States Today; Assam Flood Death Toll Rises to 33 Affecting 15 Lakh

A cyclonic circulation lies over south Gujarat & neighbourhood and another cyclonic circulation lies over East Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood in lower & mid-tropospheric levels. Under its influence, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely along West coast, Gujarat State and interior Maharashtra during next 5 days. Isolated heavy to very heavy with extremely heavy falls very likely over Konkan & Goa on 3rd & 4th July and over Madhya Maharashtra on 4th July, says IMD reports in its morning bulletin.

Heavy Rain to Lash over These States

Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls most likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and East Uttar Pradesh during next 2 days and increase in intensity & distribution thereafter.

Northeast India and East India very likely to continue to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls during the next 5 days.

Subdued rainfall activity over Western Himalayan Region and adjoining northwest India very likely to continue during next 3 days and its distribution & intensity very likely to increase thereafter.

Assam Flood

As per the ASDMA’s release, 14,95,325 people were affected in 2,197 villages in 21 districts of the state: Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Chirang, Darrang, Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Morigaon, Hojai, Nagaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.

Maximum & Minimum Temperature

Maximum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over West Rajasthan; at many places over Bihar and East Rajasthan; at a few places over East Madhya Pradesh while minimum temperatures are markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at Isolated places over West Rajasthan; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi.
