Weather Alert! Heavy Rainfall Over North India till 1 August; Warning Issued for 7 Districts of Himachal
"Isolated very heavy rainfall is also very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh on July 30th and 31st, as well as over Assam and Meghalaya until July 31st," the weather office said.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted increased rainfall activity in several north Indian states until August 1st. Fairly widespread to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Jammu and Kashmir and west Uttar Pradesh on July 29th (Friday); Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh until July 31st; and east Uttar Pradesh until August 1st.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is also expected over Punjab, north Haryana, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh on July 29th, and Uttarakhand until July 31st, according to the department.
Rainfall is expected over Central, West, East, and South India over the next 3-4 days, in addition to the north.
According to the latest forecast, heavy rainfall is very likely over Jharkhand on 30th; Bihar from 29th July-1st August; Gangetic West Bengal on 31st; Rayalaseema from 30th July-1st August, coastal Andhra Pradesh from 31st July-1st August, coastal Karnataka on 29th July and 1st August; and over Kerala and Mahe on 29th, 31st July, and 1st August 2022.

On Friday, the IMD issued an orange alert for Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, and Sirmaur in Himachal Pradesh (July 29). Una, Hamirpur, Kinnaur, and Kullu have been placed on yellow alert.
On Friday, the weather office issued a heavy rain warning for three districts in Uttarakhand: Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Bageshwar. Heavy rain is expected in Champawat, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, and Dehradun on July 30. Heavy rain is expected in most parts of Uttar Pradesh over the next two days.
