Weather Alert! Heavy Rainfall to Continue in Uttar Pradesh till 28 September; Patchy Light Showers in Delhi & Mumbai
Due to humid easterly winds in Northern part of India, many states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh will receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm. At present, a Monsoon trough is extending from Gujarat to West Bengal across Uttar Pradesh. Hence there will be moderate to heavy showers over many parts of UP.
Weather Forecast: Due to humid easterly winds in Northern part of India, many states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh will receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm. At present, a Monsoon trough is extending from Gujarat to West Bengal across Uttar Pradesh. Hence there will be moderate to heavy showers over many parts of UP.
In the next 48 hours, places like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Chandoli, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur and Pratapgarh may receive good rainfall. Also, scattered rains are likely over Kanpur, Hardoi, Lucknow and Bahraich. The intensity of the rains will be less in the western districts of the state. Agra, Meerut, Aligarh & Bareilly could witness isolated rainfall. From 28th September onwards, the rainfall activities will start reducing over East Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, isolated rainfall is also possible over Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. However, North Rajasthan will remain dry and humid.
Weather in Delhi will be pleasant in the weekend, with patchy showers in many areas of the city. Hence Delhiites can enjoy this weekend.
Mumbai might also experience light showers with one or two heavy spells today.
An East-West Trough is crossing through Madhya Pradesh, Bihar & West Bengal, which will bring moderate rainfall with one or two heavy spells in Jharkhand, Bihar and few parts of West Bengal. In short, there will be scattered light rainfall in the entire Northeast India.
In Central India, a Cyclonic Circulation is lying over Northeast Arabian Sea off South Gujarat coast. A Trough from this system is extending up to the North Bay of Bengal. Hence, rainfall will increase over Southern part of Gujarat.
Meanwhile, rains will continue over East & North Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh. There could be scattered light to moderate showers over South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, West Madhya Pradesh & Southeast Rajasthan. However, monsoon will remain Subdued over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra & Marathwada.
Lastly in South India, the rainfall activities will now start reducing mainly in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Kerala. Scattered light to moderate rains are likely in these states. Also Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells. Bengaluru and Chennai too will get light showers.
