Weather Alert! IMD Issues Heavy Rain & Gusty Winds Alert in These States; North to Remain Dry

A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from the night of 5th April. Under its influence, isolated to scattered rain/thundershower is likely over western Himalayan region and adjoining plains during 06th-07th April 2020 with maximum intensity on 07th April, says the weather forecast bulletin in its latest report. On the other hand, northerly/northwesterly winds are prevailing over northwest India. As a result, weather is likely to remain dry over this region for the next 24 hours.

Isolated thunderstorm accompanied with hail, lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) very likely over northeast India during next 24 hours. On the other hand, parts of central, east and south peninsular India are likely to experience isolated thunderstorm activity during the next 24 hours, says Indian Meteorological Department reports.

As per yesterday’s reports, rain along with thundershowers observed at isolated places over Assam Meghalaya and Telangana. On the other hand, thunderstorms observed at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and Tripura, say reports.

On the other hand, the maximum temperature was markedly above normal (5.0°C and more) at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya; at isolated places over Saurashtra & Kutch and above normal,  says yesterday’s reports.

As per yesterday’s reports, minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over North Interior Karnataka; at a few places over Saurashtra & Kutch, Telangana; and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at isolated places over Gujarat region, West Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Coastal Odisha and Coastal Karnataka.
